HOW WE BEGAN: In 2010, My Life My Power World Inc. (MLMP) was established to provide solutions for today’s youth on challenging issues like bullying. MLMP is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide our youth, parents, and community members, with information, guidance and assistance in the areas of personal development, life skills, job preparation and positive self-esteem. We strive to achieve, help develop, and maintain thriving communities, while reducing bullying, gang violence, truancy, dropouts, drug and alcohol abuse and much more.
MLMP was founded by Daniel Puder who is a retired professional athlete (Undefeated Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, WWE’s $1 million Tough Enough Champion), and World Weightlifting Champion, who has a story of overcoming challenges and adversity when he was younger. While growing up, he was bullied and harassed by his peers because he was overweight and was labeled with learning disabilities. Over a decade later, because of his coaches and mentors with hard work as an amateur and pro athlete, he became one of the top 50 heavyweight athlete fighters in the world. After much success, he decided to use his celebrity title in a way that could truly make a difference in the lives of our youth and communities around the world.
He launched the GPS for Life Program that is used in Pre – 12 and University systems worldwide. The MLMP program assists in building positive self-esteem, fulfillment, and purpose, in one’s life. We provide individuals with the ability to envision their future, along with giving them the tools to get there by teaching them how to turn their vision for a better life into a reality.
We have found that the only way for us to grab the attention of young individual is by giving them an opportunity to create a mission and vision for their own lives which allows a change of mindset. Then, we reinforce this process by instilling valuable knowledge and life-skills for them to better meet the challenges they may face in their adult years.
When we connect with parents, kids and community members, our philosophy is to ask them the right questions, build relationships through connecting, and gives them options and opportunities to guide them to a fulfilled life with more purpose. We bring to the table a program that ignites the passion in individuals to discuss vision, purpose, team, mission, and commitment. When examining these things we get to look at our challenges, our self-limiting beliefs, our needs, our wants, use of time, etc. Daniel and his team have also worked with at risk youth in Foster Care and Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Programs in the New York, Texas and the Miami Dade area. He has continued to build his team and made it his life’s mission to build the next generation of mentors that can impact our next generations.
Today we are faced with the reality that over 160,000 kids in the U.S. stay at home each day because of bullying, the average age for suicide is 13 and there is a substantial rise in drug use amongst youth. MLMP set out to find a solution for these students to be able to fulfill their educational journey in a supportive environment. After working with the DJJ, Foster Care, with Law Enforcement and in the School Systems MLMP saw a need to create a sustainable model with a new type of school system to provide a solution for students in need of Emotional Intelligence curriculum, mentorship, vocational support, and credit recovery.
Program Description
MLMPI Prep Academy
The MLMPI Prep Academy is a Private School System focused on Emotional, Belief and Physiological Intelligence. We service grades 6-12th grade and the students will accelerate and complete their credit requirements digitally, choose from different weekly schedule options, 1-2 full school days per week with MLMP trained Mentors and have access to the many resources MLMP provides including professional job/interview coaching, health / wellness coaching, after school programs, summer camps, and more. MLMPI Prep Academy School System bases learning strategies on Academic Plans individually developed for each student by our multidisciplinary staff within each school. Compensatory Learning strategies are generated from psycho-educational evaluations, previous school records, diagnostic skills assessments, observations, communication with other professionals involved with the student and our continuing experiences with the student. MLMPI Prep Academy School System is committed to a comprehensive program design that is multifaceted to meet the needs of each child.
We currently use a series of academic placement testing to determine the students appropriate grade level and then use the Apex Learning System for their daily academics. Our plan is to develop our own accredited online academic program to use within each school.
